My art drive has gone extinct; all I have to show aside from energetic (though well intentioned) scribblings is this digital muckery. I wanted to draw a deer/satyr/whatsit/person and it needed to be a girl. With sideburns. And no boobs. Obviously, I still need practice in the girl-face department; drawing female human faces seems to elude me. I can't seem to draw undeniably female faces without them looking sadly stereotypical. :[
I imagine her standing about 3.5 feet tall and that her species' culture is rather vagabond-y. They may or may not live among my bongo-people...
This was inked traditionally with nibs and gray ink, scanned in, and colored in Photoshop.
I think mostly she looks less feminine due to the fur on the edge of her jaw resembling beard growth combined with a rather prominent chin... That and people are used to more obvious lips in drawings of females.
Actually, I thought this was a girl before I read your comment, so I think you did just fine in portraying a female face without any stereotypes attached, though I know how difficult that is, as I have trouble with it as well. I absolutely love her expression, nose and lips. There's something secretive in that smile that suits a satyr character so very well. Nice job.
I really, really, really love how you did her hind legs! They remind me of baggy pants. Don't ask me why And regarding stereotypical female faces... I hear you. I can't seem to break out from the "luscious lips" and "seductive smirk". I guess you can't go without at least one stereotype. Especially long eyelashes. Even the female animals in cartoons have freaking eyelashes *g*
Like the species design though!
and....dude, I so know what you mean about drawing girls it D: I'm not good at it at aaaall; I tend to make them too androgynous.
Thank youuu, and goddam these girl faces. :[
